The 99s – Inspiring Women Pilots Since 1929 The Orange County 99s are a dynamic group of women pilots based in and around John Wayne Airport, Orange County, California. We are the local chapter of Ninety-Nines, the International Organization of Women Pilots founded by Amelia Earhart in 1929. Since 1962, the OC 99s have promoted aviation through educational, scientific, and community service. We encourage women to fly through individual mentoring and scholarships. Our members range from future women pilots to Private, Commercial, Corporate, and Airline Transport Pilots. Monthly activities include general meetings, featured events, and fly-ins to other airports. There is something for everyone in The Ninety-Nines. OUR MISSION — The NINETY-NINES® INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN PILOTS® promotes advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support while honoring our unique history and sharing our passion for flight. Established in 1929 by 99 women pilots, the members of The Ninety-Nines, Inc.®, International Organization of Women Pilots®, are represented in all areas of aviation today.
